Hearth Browser — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 August 2026 · Applies to the Android app “Hearth” (app.hearth.browser)

The short version: Hearth collects no data about you. Everything the app knows lives encrypted on your device, and we operate no servers.

Data we collect

None. Hearth has no user accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no servers of our own. We never receive your browsing history, your saved pages, your watches, or anything else. We cannot see what you do in the app, by design.

Data stored on your device

Hearth’s core feature is a personal, searchable archive of pages you read. This archive — page text, images, your watches and their history, and the record of your reading — is stored only on your device, in a database encrypted with a key held in your device’s secure hardware. It is never uploaded anywhere. You can delete it at any time in Settings (entirely, or everything except pages you chose to keep). Uninstalling the app deletes everything.

Network connections the app makes

Hearth is a browser, so it fetches the websites you choose to visit; those sites see your requests as they would from any browser. Beyond that, the app makes only these connections, each in your control:

Permissions

Camera, microphone and location permissions exist solely so that websites can request them (for example a map asking for your location). A site’s request is shown to you first, per site, and every grant can be reviewed and revoked in Settings. Hearth itself does not use these sensors and never transmits their data anywhere. Notifications are used only to tell you when a watched page changed, and only if you enabled them for that watch.

Data sharing and selling

We do not share or sell any data — we have none to share or sell.

Children

Hearth provides unrestricted access to the internet and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Hearth ever changes any of the above — for example by adding optional features that use a network service — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be noted here.
